'Spider-Man: New Day' Cracks Marvel's Top 4 Earners

Spider-Man: New Day has overtaken previous Marvel Cinematic Universe releases at the global box office, with total earnings now exceeding $1.45 billion.

The film has surpassed Avengers: Age of Ultron, which made $1.4 billion, putting it in the top four highest-grossing Marvel movies. New Day now trails only three superhero releases: Spider-Man: No Way Home ($1.926 billion), Avengers: Infinity War ($2.04 billion) and Avengers: Endgame ($2.79 billion).

Box office outlook

Analysts previously said the film's total box office haul would reach $2 billion, meaning it has a real chance of finishing among Marvel's three highest-grossing films.

Plot and release

Spider-Man: New Day tells a new chapter in Peter Parker's life. Four years after the events of No Way Home, he continues protecting New York from crime while the people close to him have completely forgotten he exists.
