The series is about the conflict in Westeros that goes back 150 years before the original series, with executive producer Ryan Condall explaining that the series starts when the Targaryens are flourishing and have 17 dragons, the most they ever had. “It’s just before the flower starts to bloom,” he said.
Martin said he’s seen nine of the 10 episodes of the first season and feels mixed emotions. “It’s very exciting,” he said. “You’re always nervous at first because these books, these characters, they’re like my kids.”
He continued: “I was very lucky here. I think Ryan has done a great job adapting the books so far, and our cast here is amazing.
Paddy Considine, who plays King Viserys, said his character will struggle to maintain stability despite his best efforts. “He’s a kind man trying to keep the kingdom peaceful,” Considine said, mocking the secret Viserys was keeping. “There is a great tragedy in that. “He loves his family and cares about his position, but he’s doing something else.”
Smith has promised that things will get tense between his character, the Targaryen Daemon Prince, and his older brother, Viserys. “It’s a difficult relationship,” said the actor. “For a demon, it’s all about his brother.”
Steve Toussaint plays Lord Corley Velarion, whom he has described as a self-made man. “By the time we meet him, he is an extremely wealthy man in his adventures,” he said.
Not all the drama happened in front of the cameras. Fabien Frankel, who plays adventurer Sir Christon Cole, admitted he accidentally made unexpected contact with Smith during an initial outing. “In our first rehearsal with Matt, I hit him in the face with a sword,” he said. Smith agreed, adding, “It’s great to have scars.”
Emma D’Arcy, who plays Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen, said the character is motivated by fire. “I think the old Targaryens are pushing it,” Star joked.
Emily Carey admitted that viewers can expect her character, Lady Alicent Hightower, to be the show’s villain, but said things won’t be that simple and that the series, which features Alicent at a fairly young age, gives her a lot of what to wait to explore. . “She IS so versatile, has so many layers,” said the actor. “I have never had the freedom to create such a complete person before.”
This led Martin to point out that any aspect of good and evil would be subtle. “We’re not going to have someone called Lord Evil or Mister Atrocity,” he said. “But of course there is evil. I’ve always believed that the most interesting characters are the great characters. “
When asked by a fan if he would make an appearance, Martin hinted that he’s been very busy working on his latest book. A Song of Ice and Fire. “There’s this book I’m writing, it’s a little late,” he said.
