“You shaped all of our lives,” Drake told the dancehall star from a mezzanine stage
The first show of Vybz Kartel in Toronto there was a special guest — and a performance. During the dancehall musician’s concert at the Scotiabank Arena on Sunday night, local hero Drake appeared on stage to perform an eight-song set in the middle of the show. Kartel.
Drake was seen on a lower level mezzanine, talking to Kartel on the main stage as the two interacted. He asked the crowd to raise their glasses to Kartel before introducing yourself. “Look at all these people here, how much we’ve already spent on this guy’s music. I used to hand out flyers outside a club called Escape just to go into the club and hear his music,” he said. Drake. “So once again, please, as a city, as a family, make some fucking noise.”

Drizzy then played a set of his biggest hits including “Hotline Bling”, “Control it”, “One Dance”, “Rich Baby Daddy”, “Which One”, “Hold On, We’re Going Home” and “Signs”. During the set, Drake ended up going on stage to perform with Kartel.
“We are enjoying, praying and waiting for this day. So I hope you understand that tonight is not just about music. Tonight is not just about seeing two artists,” he said Drake on stage, later adding: “Welcome back — we’re so grateful and happy to have you. You’ve shaped all of our lives. You can trust, especially here.”

Kartel and Drake have been friends for years, and EGG of Drake is actually presenting the shows of Kartel in Canada this week. (He has two shows left on Monday and Thursday.) Kartel and Drake last met for a performance during their takeover of Wireless Festivalwhen Kartel joined him on stage for a rendition of “Summer Time” in mid-July. The performances take place ahead of the Canadian rapper’s next project, Icemanwhich does not yet have a release date.
